Jose Mendieta and his family have been in the restuarant business for over 20 years, and continue to bring traditional Mexican cusine to the Bay Area with Mely's restaurants in both Seabrook and League City. Their family tradition includes recipes passed down for generations from Jose's family members and his mother, Mely, for whom the restaurant is named.

The Mely's menu contains both Tex-Mex and Mex-Mex style dishes and plenty of them to choose from. There is an entire page in the menu dedicated to enchiladas, including the specialty enchiladas that are a Mendieta family recipe. Other categories from the menu include Los Pollos (chicken dishes), Shrimp Platters, Los Especiales del Chef, Carnes Asadas and combination platters.
